Brooke Sargent

Born three and a half months premature and diagnosed with moderate cerebral palsy and spastic quadriplegia, Brooke has been defying expectations since day one. After doctors said she would never walk, she proved them wrong, relearning how to walk not once, but three times, after multiple surgeries and years of rehabilitation.  At age seven, Brooke discovered sled hockey during a stay at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and it changed everything. What began as a modified outlet for her passion quickly became her purpose. Brooke has competed at multiple Toyota USA Disabled Hockey Festivals, earning podium finishes in both youth and adult divisions. She now plays for Belle Tire Sled Hockey and has her sights set on the USA Women's Development Sled Hockey Team, aiming to compete internationally.  A fierce competitor and powerful public speaker, Brooke combines her love for athletics with advocacy, sharing her story with thousands to promote inclusion, resilience, and the strength found in adaptability. This fall, she begins her studies in neuroscience at the University of Michigan on a pre-dental track, continuing her mission to empower others both on and off the ice.
