Portrait of Jesus Villa
Wheelchair Basketball

Jesus Villa

Born in the Dominican Republic with congenital absence of the tibia, was welcomed into a new life in the U.S. at age two through the nonprofit Healing The Children and the support of the Badowski family. After undergoing an amputation and receiving prosthetic legs, Jesus found purpose and passion in sport-starting with wheelchair basketball at age six. What began reluctantly soon turned into a lifelong love for the game. Jesus helped lead the Sterling Heights Challengers to two national championships (2007, 2013) and earned multiple individual honors, including MVP, Hustle, All-Tournament, and the Sportsmanship Award. In addition to wheelchair basketball, Jesus also competed on the De La Salle High School wrestling team.He attended Southwest Minnesota State University, where he was named NWBA Player of the Year and a First Team NWBA All-American. Jesus had a standout season, playing in all 23 games and scoring a total of 454 points, averaging 19.7 points per game. He shot an impressive 147-for-260 from the field and led the team with 33 three-pointers made. One of the season's highlights came in a February win over Auburn, where Jesus poured in 37 points on 17-of-29 shooting, showcasing elite scoring ability and consistency.
